Tornado Restoration Continues Next Week

Starting February 3rd, our in-house crews will resume clean-up in the affected neighborhoods from the tornado last March. It has been a busy start to the year, but we feel these efforts must commence to carry out our plans of controlled burns before the dry season.

Crews will be working in the Vascongadas area. That includes W/E Andalusia, and Palma Ln. It’s unclear exactly how much will be accomplished Monday through Thursday but hope to touch the entire neighborhood in some capacity. Crews will use the same method that took place at the Desoto/Minorca intersection in December. There will be minimal hauling, most of the debris will be piled for burning.

WE ARE NOT BURNING NEXT WEEK. Burn dates will be set and nearby residents will be contacted. I will visit these homes and discuss our plans and go over any concerns you may have. We intend to keep piles 200 feet away from homes if possible. The next area after this neighborhood has not been determined yet but will likely be in the Viscara/Mano Way area.

Residents are permitted to perform their own clean-up in common areas with a class 1 common property permit. We also allow the harvesting of firewood from the right-of-way or common property with the signing of a waiver. Contact Public Services for more information.

Respectfully,

Matt Broom
