Who is Shannon?
Looking at a photo of herself with her family, face resting on her hand, Shannon reminisced, “I came from a musical family and grew up going to all-day BBQs on the weekends with my folks. The adults would all sit around playing bluegrass music and smoking weed. I never played with the other kids – I was glued to the music.”
“My folks became Christians when I was 11, and we became a family band going around and singing in churches and festivals nine months out of the year. We recorded several albums as a family, and I began doing some songwriting. I did that with my folks until I got married at 25.”
“After I married, I began playing music with my best friend. We recorded an album together and entered a Gospel Music Association artist and songwriters contest held in Chicago and made it into the final competition out of 10,000 applicants. Singing an original song I wrote, we took second place. Later, I composed and recorded my own sacred album of original songs .”
Shannon has also had the privilege of being invited to sing at the World Famous Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee, where she presented a songwriter friend’s original compositions. In addition, she is a past winner of the HSV Village Voice Readers’ Choice “Entertainer of the Year Award.”
Shannon is: a gifted pianist and guitarist; songwriter and composer; and vocalist with her own style, who can caress each note to bring forth the tenderness of a ballad and the excitement of fireworks.
