In this edition of “Ask Matt,” Hot Springs Village POA Associate Director of Public Services answers a question about the tornado clean-up effort.

Resident:  The clean-up crews were in my neighborhood removing debris, but they didn’t get the trees off the lots beside me or from the common property behind my home.  Will the POA send them back to get these?  If not, will the POA require the undeveloped lot owners to be responsible for cleaning up their lots?

Matt:  As we stated at the beginning of our first round of clean-up, the POA has to clean the road right-of-way and utility easements first and foremost.  This effort is a life safety concern to uncover and make accessible all fire hydrants and utilities.  As for any clean-up beyond the right-of-way, our official plan isn’t finalized, but we have been sending out waivers to property owners to allow us access to these lots for timber removal.  The extent of the cleaning is dependent upon funding and/or state assistance.  If you have not received a waiver and would like to, please contact Land and Property Services or submit an online Public Service request form.  Thank you.
