In this installation of “Ask Matt,” Matt Broom, Associate Director of Public Services, discusses the “Free Dirt” giveaway event in Hot Springs Village.

Resident: I heard the POA gave dirt away a while back. Will this happen again? And if so, will someone be there to load it for me?

Matt:  Yes, last year, the POA held Free Dirt Friday for several Fridays. The location is where our leaf drop-off is, aka “The Pit.”  It is a good topsoil mix with our composted leaves and debris. Due to liability issues, the POA will not be able to use any type of equipment to load, and all dirt must be taken by shovels/buckets. We have limited staff, so residents should not expect to have the dirt loaded for them…. it operates as a self-serve giveaway.

Note from the Gazette: Please bring your own shovels and buckets. The Pit is located at Deposito Paseo (off Terlingua). Heading from the west side, take DeSoto Boulevard. Turn left on Terilingua. Turn left on Deposito Paseo. Stay tuned for more detailed information to be published soon.
