Have you ever lost the use of something & maybe were not even aware you had it?
The Hot Springs Village outdoor swimming pool is a really nice amenity. Almost brand spanking new! Are you aware that there are ADULT-ONLY swim times? You may not know this. It seems as if a lot of Villagers are not privy to this information.
Villagers have spoken and the HSV Parks and Recreation Department has taken heed. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Last year, Villagers asked for ADULT-ONLY swim time at the outdoor pool. They wanted time to relax without the noise and bustle of little ones splashing around. Terry Wiley, Director of Parks and Recreation, responded by adding to the pool schedule three ADULT-ONLY swim times.
In another article I reported:
“Wiley said they got a lot of heat about not having adult time last year at the outdoor pool. The outdoor pool adult time is in addition to the regular schedule. Wiley stated, “The bad news is everybody wants something and nobody uses it. We average less than three people during the outdoor pool adult time. Wiley said he is giving it another week or two and if weak attendance during the adult time doesn’t change, the adult time will be removed from the schedule.
“Adult swim times (ages 21 and over) at the Outdoor Pool are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and Thursdays, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.”
The cost to use the pool is only $2.00 for members and $4.00 for guests. The outdoor pool is located at 205 DeSoto Boulevard. Outdoor pool staff may be reached at 501-915-0985.
The Outdoor Pool is also available for private events. Please contact Deb Johnson, Manager at the Coronado Fitness Center at 501-922-1230 for more information on scheduling a private event.
I love that some time has been set aside for adults. I can go to the beach but I do like swimming in a clean pool. I won’t be doing mornings but I can live with the afternoon swim. Not sure what the complaint is…..
Why pay to swim when the village has an excellent beach at lake balboa?
If the PRC is focused on numbers of people in making their decisions, thereby increasing revenue, then why not have public swimming lessons, games, events, and parties sponsored by the PRC. More people will show up for the activities. They could be very inexpensive to sponsor and people would have more to do then just swim. Open the pool for Adults all day Tuesday and Thursday and kids Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. And conduct the activities focused on those who will be showing up on these days. I think this would be a much more equitable solution than our current strategy. And I will be showing up to the next committee meeting to share my ideas.
Richard,
The committee meeting times are published frequently in the Village Digest.
The meeting very informative and interesting.
I think you would enjoy visiting the one that interest you.
Quit threatening us, first the hours are terrible, the weather has been unforgiving, we paid for that pool, make the hours permanent, there was no input from the seniors about the hours for the pool. Maybe it’s time for a new parks director , one that works for the people of the village, not for the people outside of the village.
For Richard Jacobs. Suggest you join the volunteer POA Parks and Recreation committee, and/or just attend their meetings, and provide your solutions and logic and reasoning about this issue.
How do you find this secret organization?
Have you given any input to the Recreation Committee. I appreciate the Recreation Dept has allotted extra pool time that can be utilized by adults onlyThey didn’t take anything from you, they gave us something additional that we asked for.
Thank you Cheryl for trying to illuminate more folks about this enhancement.
Thanks, Marc. I appreciate your comment and support. – Cheryl Dowden
This is the first we have heard of this? We are all in for the afternoon swim time vs the 10-12pm time when it is really hot.
