HSV Make-A-Wish is Shining a Light of Hope for Local Wish Kids This Fall.

With fall right around the corner, Hot Springs Village Make-A-Wish is in full swing planning fundraiser events to benefit local children from the surrounding area. There are currently eighteen children awaiting wishes in Garland and Saline counties and 196 awaiting wishes in central Arkansas.

The annual Bucket Brigade will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 15. With locations at Danville, Glazypeau, and Balboa Gates, MAW volunteers will be standing at each gate collecting donations. In October, KVRE will host a Wish-A-Thon where listeners can call or go online at kvre.com to donate.

The HSV Night of Wishes will take place November 10 at the Coronado Center. There will be dancing, food, and opportunities to hear wish stories all while enjoying music from Lay Arredondo and the Encore Band. There will be a silent auction and an opportunity to donate fly miles to help with air travel for Wish Kids.  Make-A-Wish is the world’s largest wish-granting organization. Hot Springs Village MAW is part of the Make-A-Wish Midsouth chapter in Arkansas.

According to Make-A-Wish Midsouth, when a wish is granted, a child replaces fear with confidence, sadness with joy, and anxiety with hope. Donations to Make-A-Wish help provide a positive turn in a child’s journey through a critical illness. A wish can provide relief from the trauma, increase emotional well-being, renew their hope and strength to fight their illness, and will last far beyond the wish experience.

Melanie Pederson knows firsthand the power of a wish.  Her granddaughter was born with a Vein of Galen Malformation. Melanie said,” A trip to Give Kids the World gave us all a chance to relax and watch Jordan’s eyes light up as she visited Universal, Sea World and the Magic Kingdom.  We hope you will join us as we raise money to grant a local child’s wish.”

Individuals and organizations who would like to learn more about HSV Make-A-Wish or would like to have Make-A-Wish speak at an event, contact Melanie Pederson at 1-608-692-0458 or melped53@yahoo.com.
