An Angelic Experience – Raffaella Rose Restaurant at Cortez in Hot Springs Village
The Raffaella Rose at Cortez is an Italian fusion restaurant snuggled among the scenic hills and hollows inside the gates of lovely Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
Raffaella Rose, while located a little off the beaten track in the Village, is well worth a short drive to investigate. The address is 299 Cortez Road, located on the magnificent Hot Springs Village Cortez Golf Course, adjacent to the Pro Shop. While this location might be a mile or two out of your way, it is well worth the little extra traveling time along the picturesque roads. Once you eat at Raffaella Rose, you are certain to return.
Raffaella Rose, a hands-on, owner-operated venue offers a delicious dining experience in a casual atmosphere. Carl and Iva Duncan have operated at this location since 2017.
Chatting with Iva Duncan
On June 7, 2022, I had the pleasure to chat with Iva about her restaurant and its angel-themed decor. Iva and Carl just celebrated Raffaella’s fifth anniversary on February 2, 2022.
When entering the establishment, the first thing that you can’t help but notice is the beautiful angelic decor. What stands out more than anything are the bright and spiritual hand-painted tables, which are mostly Iva’s own creation. Iva explained that she loves to decorate and is an artist at heart.
Iva’s said the inspiration for the table art was because “After COVID, we felt we needed to bring up the spirits of the community. I am a Christian and I asked the Lord what I could do to help the community have hope. I painted what the Lord put in my heart concerning the times we are living in right now in a spiritual aspect. I felt in my heart that if I put a different abstract story on each table, it might help people in a spiritual way. I pray that whoever sits at the tables, that God will enlighten them.”
In addition to her penchant for art and painting, Iva loves to cook and develop recipes. Iva grew up in a family with nine children, watching her mother cook for the extended family. Just like her mother, Iva enjoys cooking for an army of folks. Iva’s childhood home was always overflowing with aunts, uncles, cousins, and others and Iva’s mother fed them all. Iva takes after her mother in this aspect and said she doesn’t know how to cook small.
