Winter Storm Final Report – Tuesday, January 14, 5:00 p.m. – Public Services Director Matt Broom

Winter Storm Hot Springs Village 2025

Dear Residents,

As we wrap up storm recovery efforts, I want to provide a final update.

POA Facilities: All facilities are operating under normal business hours.

Roads: The previous closures on Barcelona and Fresno Road are now open, and there are currently no active road closures. However, please continue to drive with caution.

Golf Courses: All golf courses remain closed and will be evaluated daily.

Street Maintenance: Crews are actively addressing individual requests and will continue work until 6:00 PM tonight.

Reflectors: There is no need to collect pavement markers (reflectors) and bring them to the POA for reuse. These markers do not adhere well after being removed and can be disposed of as trash. New reflectors will be installed as part of our 2025 street improvement plan.

Public Services Update: Plow truck operators report that most roads are now passable. While we appreciate your requests for additional plowing, driveway clearing, and hill sanding, it is not possible to accommodate all of them. The POA’s priority is ensuring roads are passable for emergency services. Perfectly clear streets are not a realistic goal at this time.

As daytime temperatures rise, the remaining snow will continue to melt, and plowing efforts will taper off. Two plow trucks with sanders will remain on duty tomorrow to address urgent needs.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! Stay safe.

Respectfully,

Matt Broom

HSVPOA Public Services Director

Winter Storm Update – Monday, Jan. 13, 4:40 p.m. – GM Ken Unger

Good Afternoon,

We’re nearly cleared and back to normal!

As of now, our plow operators are clearing specific requests from residents who are still having issues accessing primary roads. With the continuing sunshine and rising temperatures, full access should hopefully be restored by tomorrow.

Should you need assistance, please feel free to contact the Public Services Department by going to Public Services – Hot Springs Village POA – https://www.explorethevillage.com/services/public-services – where you will find a link to submit an online form.

Road Conditions:

  • Residential side streets remain the focus until all roads are passable.

Facilities:

  • All POA facilities will open as normal tomorrow.
  • Golf courses will remain closed until further notice. We are assessing conditions on a day-to-day basis.
  • The Coronado Fitness Center will open at 8 AM tomorrow and will be back on the regular schedule on Wednesday.

Trash Collection:

  • Trash pickup will begin tomorrow for those whose regular day is Monday. Please note that crews will run two hours behind to allow for some morning road thawing.

Road Closures:

These closures will remain in effect again tonight due to icy conditions. We will advise residents when they are reopened.

  • Fresno Road from the Carmona 4-way stop to Pinon Vista Lane
  • Barcelona Road from Tomino Way to Villano Lane

Thank you again for your cooperation and support!

Respectfully,

Ken Unger

Winter Storm Status Update – Sunday, January 12, 5:00 pm – General Manager Ken Unger

Good Afternoon,

I hope you are having a peaceful Sunday. The POA is grateful that we all navigated this extreme weather event safely together.

At this writing, rising temperatures and continuous plowing should hopefully help clear most roads by end of day tomorrow, though caution is recommended as snowmelt and slush could again refreeze areas overnight. The POA will continue residential street plowing until all roads are passable.

Road Conditions:

Residential side streets are the focus until all roads are passable.

POA Facilities:

All POA facilities will have a two-hour delayed start tomorrow and will open at 10 AM.

Golf courses will remain closed until further notice.

Trash Collection:

Trash pickup will be on a one-day delay. Please refrain from putting trashcans out until Tuesday if your regular day is Monday to help facilitate plowing of the roads.

Road Closures:

These closures will remain in effect tonight due to icy conditions.
Fresno Road from the Carmona 4-way stop to Pinon Vista Lane
Barcelona Road from Tomino Way to Villano Lane.

Event Cancellation:

The Community Support information event scheduled for 9 AM tomorrow at the Coronado Center is canceled. A new date and time will be published when available.

Please continue to exercise extreme caution and be patient as we work to improve conditions. Thank you again for your cooperation and support!

Respectfully,
Ken Unger

Winter Storm Status Update – January 11, 4:50 p.m. – GM Ken Unger

Good Afternoon,

I want to provide one further update on our progress today as our road crews and facilities teams continue to work clearing streets and monitoring safety concerns. At this writing, we still recommend staying off the roads if at all possible.

Road Conditions:

Please respect and adhere to any existing road barriers.

Residential collector streets (those that serve to move traffic from local streets to arterial roads) are still being cleared and remain the priority for emergency vehicle access. We expect to have most residential collector roads plowed by the end of today.

Residential side streets will be the focus for tomorrow’s plow trucks.

Trash Collection:

Trash pickup will be on a one-day delay. There will be no Monday trash collection. Please refrain from putting trashcans out until Tuesday if your regular day is Monday.

POA Facilities:

We will provide an additional update tomorrow evening on the situation for Monday morning as to POA facilities and any delayed starts.

Please continue to exercise extreme caution, avoid all unnecessary travel, and be patient as we work to improve conditions. Thank you again for your cooperation and support!

Respectfully,

Ken Unger

Winter Storm Status Update – Saturday, January 11 at 8:20 a.m. – GM Ken Unger

Good Morning Residents,

Thankfully, it was quiet overnight without any emergency situations. However, due to freezing temperatures, roads are more hazardous today than yesterday as they’ve become icy. The POA still recommends staying off the roads if at all possible.

Road Conditions:

All major roads inside the Village have now been plowed, although a few closures are still in effect. Please respect and adhere to all road barriers.

Residential collector street clearing will begin today, with crews prioritizing hilly areas to address them before they freeze again. We expect to have most residential collector roads plowed by the end of the day. Our focus remains on providing emergency vehicle access. Please keep in mind we have over 468 miles of paved roads in the Village. Our focus is on life/safety first and foremost.

Highways 5, 7, and 128 have been cleared by the County and ARDOT, and major routes to and from the Village are open. For the latest road conditions outside the Village, we suggest checking the IDriveArkansas website.

Please continue to exercise extreme caution, avoid all unnecessary travel, and be patient as we work to improve conditions. Thank you again for your cooperation and support! We will provide an additional update this evening on our progress. Stay safe!

Respectfully,

Ken Unger
