The Hot Springs Village Police Department is pleased to introduce our newest Officer, K9 Nala, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois provided to this agency by Category 5 K9 out of Texas. Nala will work with Officer Elvis Caple to assist with search and rescue operations, article, and drug detection, and to provide additional safety to Officers and residents of Hot Springs Village.
POA General Manager Kelly Hale advised, “Having our new team member Nala will allow our community to reach new heights in supporting our officers and our citizens.”
We would like to thank our sponsors, who have provided support towards Nala’s transition to the Hot Springs Village Police Department as our newest Officer:
- Category 5 K9, is a non-profit organization that donated Nala to this agency.
- Hot Springs Village Animal Welfare League for providing continuous support for Nala’s transition, including her veterinary care.
- Barkansas for providing nutritional support.
- Wagon Wheel Veterinary Clinic for Nala’s care.
- Hot Springs Village Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association for their ongoing commitment and contribution.
The Police Department is very thankful for all our donors and the constant support of the Hot Springs Village Police Department. Without their generosity, we would not have been able to acquire Nala and provide a valuable tool for law enforcement within our community.

Our granddaughter in Ohio has a Belgian Malinois also. She breeds, trains, and shows dogs, and has a contract to train service dogs for wounded warriors. She says Malinois are a wonderfully smart breed.
She is absolutely Beautiful. A wonderful asset for the HSV Police. Thank You to all those who contributed
to make make her available to the HSV Police and this Community.
