Is This Heaven? No, It’s The Iowa Gathering!

Come one – come all! Come all former Iowans!

We are making a come back of the Hot Springs Village Iowa Picnic Gathering! 

After a hiatus of five years, the Iowa Gathering will be the place to be for all of the Iowa Transplants in the Village! 

It will be held on Tuesday, September 17, at the DeSoto Clubhouse, 100 Clubhouse Drive, Hot Springs Village. Social Hour starting at 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Then a buffet of delicious, mouth watering Iowa food will be served from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The Buffet will include: Breaded Pork Tenderloins, Pan Seared, Oven Roasted Walleye, a Maid-Rite bar, scalloped potatoes, corn casserole, coleslaw, peach cobbler, brownies with caramel sauce, coffee, tea and water. A cash bar will also be available. (True Iowans will know what Maid-Rites are!) 

There will be lots of lucky winners for some door prizes and raffles that will be held throughout the night. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. There may be more Iowa surprises that sprout up you won’t want to miss! 

It does not make a difference if you lived in Iowa for one month or all of your life until you moved to Hot Springs Village! Maybe your family or friends are from Iowa! Maybe you went to college at one of the best colleges there! Maybe you just want to know what a Maid-Rite is! You are more than welcome to come gather with us and enjoy the fun at the DeSoto Club September 17 starting at 4:00! 

The last Hot Springs Village Iowa Picnic was held in September 2019 at the Balboa Pavilion. Mike and Kris Wester decided after meeting so many Iowans after moving here, that five years was too long for not getting together again! So they formed a committee of 16 Villagers who are also former Iowans. They have met several times and then broke off into smaller committees that have done lots of work organizing this gathering. Committee members are: Mike and Kris Wester, Dean and Kim Winter, Bill and Rochelle Lamport, Norman and Sandy Knoke, John and Diane Holtz, Mike and Margy Hendren, Richard and Teresa Cady, Evan and Valerie Bahe. They have had lots of fun and a friendship has been formed!

We are bringing it back and want it to be a success!

Tickets are $32.50 per person
