Do you have a Can-Am Spyder or three-wheeler, or plan to get one?
If the answer to that question is ‘yes,’ then Villager John Bowers wants you to know he is forming a new motorcycle group composed of Can-Am Spyders and other three-wheel motorcycles. If you are looking for fellow Spyder and three-wheel motorcycle riders to ride and socialize with, this new group may be right up your lane.
Bowers plans for the new Ouachita Spyders group to feature frequent casual-paced local rides, social get-togethers, and trips to regional Spyder and three-wheeler events. The group does not plan to get bogged down in a complicated organizational structure.
Ouachita Spyders – Minimal Bureaucracy and Maximum Fun
Bowers said, “When we have enough members, we will hold an organizational meeting to elect three officers. The plan is to keep the bureaucracy to a minimum. The rides will be as frequent as members want to organize them – the same with the social events. I like to do a short ride to a local coffee shop in the morning or a dessert location in the afternoon about once a week. I also like to take a longer ride weekly to a restaurant for lunch.”
“This year, my wife Judy and I attended the Steele Horse Rally in May in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and the Green Country Spyder Rally in September in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. We belonged to the former Gold Wing Club in the Village and the Star Riders Yamaha Club in the Twin Cities,” explained Bowers.
Having served as both a ride leader and treasurer, Bowers said he has experience with the organization of Spyder groups. Bower’s goal is to have “safe, casually-paced rides that riders can enjoy without the stress of the fast pace some other motorcycle clubs engage in. Judy and I ride Can-Am Spyders, but all 3-wheel motorcycles are welcome.”

According to Wikipedia: “The Can-Am Spyder (“Spyder”) is a three-wheeled motorcycle manufactured by Can-Am motorcycles, a division of Bombardier Recreational Products. The vehicle has a single rear drive wheel and two wheels in front for steering, similar in layout to a modern snowmobile. Spyders uses an ATV-like chassis. The manufacturer refers to it as a “roadster,” but in technical terms, it is more of what has been traditionally called a trike.”
