Hot Springs Village Street Maintenance Department Continues Road Preservation Work

Matt Broom, HSVPOA Superintendent of Street Maintenance and Sanitation, said that part of Barcelona Road will receive a fog seal, aka scrub seal, beginning in mid-August.

Motorists should note that Wednesday, August 16, is scheduled to be an equipment mobilization and set-up day, with road closures likely beginning on Thursday, August 17.

The area receiving the treatment is south of West Villena and north of Malaga Circle. Sections of the road will be closed for up to eight hours at a time.  Detours will be clearly marked and can be viewed in the pdf below.

Broom explained, “The fog seal is not major construction but a preservation method.  The coat will extend the life of the road and add some traction to the surface.  Afterward, the road will receive new stripes and reflective markers for added visibility and safety.”

The project could last anywhere between 10 to 14 days, depending on weather and temperatures.  The work will usually not begin until after 9:00 am each day due to the sunlight requirements for the product to dry adequately.

Thank you for your patience as the crews work to preserve and extend the life of our Village roads.
