The Hot Springs Village Tennis Association held a men’s and women’s doubles tennis tournament at the Coronado Tennis Center in early May. Doubles teams were divided into four flights (two each for men’s and women’s competition), playing round robin matches amongst teams of similar skill levels. Despite challenging rainouts and rescheduled matches, the tournament was ultimately completed over two weekends in May.
Winning Teams
There were many competitive matches, some leading to third set super tiebreakers to determine the winning teams. The top women’s teams were Lainey Mungle/Harmony Clayton (Flight A) and Maria Brown/Nannette Rogers (Flight B). The winning men’s teams were Scott Clayton/Kris Burghart (Flight A) and Joe Acoveno/Andrew Walker (Flight B). Congratulations to the winners!
Special Thanks
Thanks to all who participated in the tournament and to friends and family showing out to watch the matches and cheer on the competitors. Shout out to our co-tournament directors, Sharon Cherrnay and Jim Dothage for leading the effort and dealing with rescheduling so many matches due the rainy conditions. Hats off to the Cornado Tennis Center staff for the great tennis facilities and assisting with the event.
