Roger Smith and Kelly Hale – Past, Present, and Future
The Ouachita Speaker Series is proud to present its first speakers of the Fall 2023 season, Roger Smith and Kelly Hale. Smith is a longtime resident, former State Legislator, and community leader. Kelly Hale, the Hot Springs Village General Manager, brings 37 years of experience with him, having retired as a vice president at a Fortune 500 company.
Smith and Hale will discuss the 50-plus-year history of Hot Springs Village, its current status, and both short-term and long-term plans.
On November 11, 1970, ground was broken for the development of Hot Springs Village. Roger Smith and his wife Linda were among the first residents. Experiencing amazement upon his initial arrival, Roger said, “Back then, the pavement on DeSoto Boulevard ended at Calella Road. Beyond that was gravel.”
“The place looked like the cover of a Boy Scout magazine, and the whole idea of the place was appealing,” enthused Roger.
Come and hear Roger discuss the development of Hot Springs Village from the early days to the present. General Manager Kelly Hale will discuss the Hot Springs Village Property Owners’ Association’s current status and daily challenges. The GM will also address plans for the Village.
The program is scheduled for Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. at the beautiful Woodlands Auditorium located at the Ponce de Leon Center at 1101 DeSoto Boulevard,
Tickets are also available for purchase at the Ponce de Leon Center office (1101 DeSoto Boulevard)
Students are admitted at no charge if they present a current student Identification card.
If coming from outside the Village, use only the East or West manned gates and show your ticket, confirmation, invitation, or event flyer (hard copy or on your smart device) to receive your visitor pass into the Village.
