What’s going on at the HSV DeSoto Outdoor Swimming Pool? In a nutshell, this is it – we asked for it and we got it.
Six hours of adult-only swim time is a new thing that the Hot Springs Village Parks and Recreation Department has added on a trial basis. If it is well attended, the extra pool time will continue. If it is not, it will be removed due to staffing costs, etc. Terry Wiley, Director of Parks and Recreation said, “Right now we have averaged approximately six people [per extra session]. It is important to note that the adult-only time is an addition. We did not reduce any open swim time to accommodate this availability.”
Adult swim times (ages 21 and over) at the Outdoor Pool are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and Thursdays, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Will these extra adult-only swim time sessions continue? Who knows, but what is certain is that the future of this is in our hands. If we want to keep this, we need to use it.
Tuesday, May 31, 2022, only five adults attended the adult swim time. There was a slight improvement on Wednesday, June 1 with seven in attendance.
What are the Regular hours and days of operation for the outdoor pool?
The outdoor pool is closed on Mondays, except for holidays. Note, that July 4 falls on a Monday this year.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, the time for all swimmers is 12:00 to 6:00 PM
Friday and Saturday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM for all swimmers.
Sunday – 1:00 to 5:00 PM for all swimmers.
What does it cost to swim in the outdoor pool? You might be surprised at the low fees.

ANNUAL HOUSEHOLD POOL PASS: $150.00
SUPER SENIOR POOL PASS: $50.00
DAILY PASSES
MEMBER: $2.00
NON-MEMBER: $4.00
EMPLOYEE: $2.00
The outdoor pool is also available for private rentals at the rate of $250 per two-hour block.
The pool opened on Memorial Day weekend-May 28 and will close on Labor Day, September 5, 2022, giving us 100 days of outdoor swimming.
