It’s hot outside, but Hot Springs Village Players are dreaming of a White Christmas.
It might be hot outside, but the HSV Players are already thinking about Christmas – and a white Christmas at that!
Rehearsals are underway for the November “White Christmas” production, a perfect beginning to this year’s holiday season. This perennial favorite has got it all – singing, dancing, romance and comedy. Will it snow in time for Christmas and save the “old man’s” Vermont Inn? You’ll find out – just don’t wait too long to get your tickets because this one will be a sellout.
Tickets went on sale September 5 at Hot Springs Village Thunder Tix. The production will run November 16-19 at the Woodlands Theater in the Village.
Originally released in 1954, White Christmas starred Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen and featured 17 songs by Irving Berlin. The film set a new record as Hollywood’s all-time highest-grossing musical. It’s a sentimental favorite – a successful song-and-dance team becomes romantically involved with a sister act and team up to save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general.
In addition to the Players’ talented stable of performers, the organization is reaching out more and more to the Village in an effort to make its productions truly community events. Joining in this production are several members of the Hot Springs Village Chorale, the Spa City Tappers, a member of Voices Rising, and, in a very special appearance, military veterans from the Village and surrounding area.
The same team who brought the successful Wizard of Oz to the Woodlands Stage is teaming up again for White Christmas. Sam Sacco, president of the Players, is directing, and Damon Schleuse is the producer. Musical direction is by Lynne Border Koon, assisted by Craig Welle.
